Microsoft Copilot Available

Unless you haven’t been paying much attention, generative artificial intelligence (AI) has been taking the tech world by storm. There are several AI tools available to use, both paid and free.

All users at the college have access to Microsoft Copilot with Commercial Data Protection.

When using Copilot or any other generative AI tool, it’s important to craft strong and effective prompts to get the most out of the tool. An effective prompt is made up of a few necessary “ingredients.”

  • Goal or Intent – what you wish to get out of the results, such as a recipe or an explanation of a topic.
  • Context – where you’re coming from, such as “I’m a beginner cook.”
  • Source or Specific Information – why you’re doing this, such as “I’m trying to make Italian food.”
  • Expectations (if necessary) – how you want it, such as easy to understand without technical details or displayed as a list for easy reading.

When you put it all together and get the hang of quality prompting, generative AI tools can serve as a revolutionary tool to improve your productivity.
