Ashley Brown – Serving Herself: The Life and Times of Althea Gibson Tomorrow at 4:30pm in Ruane Great Room

Ashley Brown is the author of Serving Herself: The Life and Times of Althea Gibson (Oxford University Press), which has won numerous awards.

She has written for the Journal of Sports History, Journal of African American History, Journal of American History, History.com, First and Pen.com, Picturing Black History.org, and the Washington Post. She is Associate Professor and the Allan H. Selig Chair in History of Sport and Society at the University of Wisconsin.

She will be here to discuss her book “serving Herself: The Life and Times of Althea Gibson and present her talk “A Trailblazer and Her Allies: Althea Gibson, Alice Marble, Mary Hardwick, Sarah Palfrey, and the Integration of Tennis”.
