The Ethics in Business Education Program at Providence College is excited to announce the PC Business Ethics Topic Analysis Competition. The PC Business Ethics Topic Analysis Competition is held exclusively for Providence College students from all majors. Teams of 2-4 undergraduate students will choose a current ethical business issue and submit a PowerPoint presentation to the Ethics in Business Education Program. The PowerPoint presentation should contain a synopsis of the ethical issue, why it is important, ethical implications of the case, applicable ethical theories, and an overall recommendation from the team on how to address this issue. As an example, a case used in a recent Michael Smith Business Ethics Case Competition involved ethical issues associated with businesses monitoring remote workers. Student teams interested in this competition are required to register by Mon., March 31st by emailing Bobby McGuire (rmcguir3.ga@providence.edu). Space is limited to 25 teams; thus, teams will be entered into the competition on a first-come-first-served basis.
Student team PowerPoint presentations will be due via email to Bobby McGuire by 12 p.m. (noon) on Monday, April 7th. PowerPoint submissions will be reviewed by Ethics in Business Education Program staff. The teams with the best submissions will present their topics to the Ethics in Business Education Program staff on Weds., April 9th. Criteria used for the evaluation of the presentations will include the topic description and relevance, visual appeal of the PowerPoint presentation, appropriate use of ethical theories, the viability of the recommended approach to address the issue, and responses to questions by the reviewers.
