Register for the Silent Retreat today!

We are thrilled to announce our seventh annual Silent Retreat will be held February 7-8, 2026 at the beautiful Enders Island Retreat Center in Mystic, CT. Click here to learn more about Enders Island and view some of the stunning oceanside views.

This retreat involves the most amount of unstructured time of any of our retreats. In between talks by staff, you will have the option to pray in the beautiful chapel, walk along the shoreline, read a book, nap, journal, try a new type of prayer, etc.

This is our most unique retreat offering in that there are no small groups, games, or icebreakers, but simply time to be with God in a profound way.

This retreat is open to all undergraduate students and will include reflection talks by chaplains and campus ministers, opportunities for the sacraments, and time for personal prayer and reflection.

The last few Silent Retreats have been incredible, and we are so excited to see what the Lord has in store for each of us in these moments of peace, relaxation, and quiet.

We are looking forward to sharing the graces of this beautiful weekend with you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Wait…what do you mean by “silent”? What is this retreat like as a participant?

Good question! We will meet in Campus Ministry and have breakfast before heading to the retreat center together. Once we get settled into the retreat center and go over the schedule, we will ask you to begin silence. Retreatants will be totally silent between 11 AM on Saturday and 11 AM on Sunday. In between talks by staff, you will be able to spend your time as you please, though staff will have plenty of suggestions and resources if you want guidance. After Mass on Sunday, we will be able to break our silence at lunch and discuss the graces of the retreat together before heading back to PC. Many students have said this is their favorite and most relaxing retreat experience we offer. If you have particular questions about the retreat, you may reach out to campus minister JP Manning at jmannin5@providence.edu

If I attended the Silent Retreat previously, can I attend again?

Yes!

Can I bring my phone?

Yes, though we would encourage you only to use it to set alarms to wake up on Sunday. You are free to leave your phone on campus if you want to get the most out of the retreat by being able to disconnect and recharge for a day.

When will I have time to do homework?

We will be home by 3:00pm on Sunday so that you may prepare for the week ahead. If absolutely necessary, you can do some academic work during free time and at night, but it will detract from your enjoyment of the weekend.

I usually attend Sunday Mass on campus. Will Sunday Mass be offered during the retreat?

We will have Sunday Mass together at Enders Island before returning to campus

Please reach out to our retreats director JP Manning at jmannin5@providence.edu with any questions.
