The Book that Changed My Life Series- Eliot’s Middlemarch Thurs., (4/30) from 4:30–5:30pm in the CCDS

You are warmly invited to join us for our second gathering in our CCDS series, The Book That Changed My Life, featuring Dr. Margaret Watkins, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Philosophy.

Dr. Watkins will reflect on George Elliot’s Middlemarch. Middlemarch is an explicit meditation on the possibilities of modern sainthood. The brilliance of its author, the magnanimity of its central characters, and its fierce grappling with suffering and joy console and inspire. Eliot does with prose what she believed Fra Angelico did with painting—with a loving gaze, both show the beauty at the heart of creation.

Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book and enjoy light refreshments.
