Changes to Email Recipient Limit

On Wednesday, April 19 in an effort to help prevent the spread of email scams, the recipient limit of an individual email will be reduced from the current 500 recipients to 150 recipients. The number of recipients is the number of actual email addresses to which a single email message can be sent. This includes the total of all email addresses in the To, CC, and BCC fields on an email message.

This change does not affect the college’s official distribution lists, such as the PC-S, PC-F, and the student class year lists. This change also does not affect mail merges as a mail merge sends an individual email to each email address in the merged list.

Users who manage their own contact lists that contain in excess of 150 email addresses will need to adjust their lists to 150 or fewer addresses. Users will also not be able to copy and paste a list of email addresses from a file into an email if there are more than 150 email addresses in that file.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Helpdesk at helpdesk@providence.edu or 401-865-HELP (4357).
